Birds of North Sikkim
North Sikkim, nestled in the Eastern Himalayas, offers some of the most dramatic alpine landscapes in India — and hosts a rich diversity of high-altitude and trans-Himalayan bird species. From glacial valleys near Yumthang and Lachen to the windswept ridges of Gurudongmar, this region is a birder’s paradise at 3,000 to 5,000 meters. This collection features striking montane birds like the Güldenstädt’s Redstart, Himalayan Bluetail, White-collared Blackbird, and the rare Yellow-rumped Honeyguide. Snow-country specialists like the Rufous-necked Snowfinch, Ground Tit, Horned Lark, and White-rumped Snowfinch are also included. Other highlights include the Little Owl, Spotted Forktail, Dark-breasted Rosefinch, Robin Accentor, and Green Shrike-Babbler — all captured in the raw, untouched wilderness of one of India’s least-explored birding regions.
