Birds of GRK
The Great Rann of Kutch (GRK), a vast saline desert in western Gujarat, is home to a remarkable variety of desert-adapted and migratory bird species. This collection showcases rare and elusive birds seen across the Banni Grasslands, Chhari Dhandh, and surrounding scrublands of GRK. Notable species include the endangered MacQueen’s Bustard, elegant Grey Hypocolius, and unique specialties like the White-naped Tit, Stoliczka’s Bushchat, and Sykes’s Lark. Other highlights include Graceful Prinia, Indian Nightjar, Steppe Eagle, Spotted Sandgrouse, Marshall’s Iora, and the colorful Rosy Starling. These images reflect the GRK’s rich bird diversity and its critical role as a wintering and breeding ground for arid-zone birds and Eurasian migrants.
